18-year-old Bianca Mendoza just shared her heartbreaking story about how she was forced into sex trafficking by a man she thought she could trust. She met 33-year-old Ariel Guizar (known as Shy) on Instagram when she was just 15-years-old.
Bianca was initially enamored by Guizar’s cool tattoos, his money, and his overall bad-boy style. However, the adoration quickly wore off when she found out his true intentions. Before she knew it, she was being forced to have sex with more than 10 men a day, and Guizar’s death threats kept her trapped under his control for almost 3 years before she escaped.
What’s even scarier is that Guizar was using his personal social media accounts like Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat as well as Backpage to market the girls. He even posted a video of Bianca with a customer on one of the platforms.
Now Guizar is behind bars and Bianca is speaking out for a very important reason. When asked why she decided to do this interview, she said it’s because she’s worried for other girls like her. “If a guy loves you he wouldn’t have you having sex for money,” she added. “He would want to be your only one.”

What started as a little flirtation over Instagram turned into full-blown sex trafficking in the blink of an eye. Parents, it’s always tough to find the balance in monitoring our children’s behavior and giving them their necessary freedoms, but Bianca’s story is a prime example of why we NEED to know what our kids are doing online—especially on social media. If there’s a time and a place to be nosy, THIS is it.
We so often think human trafficking is this far-off thing happening in remote areas, but the truth is, it’s happening right under our noses—and together we can stop it.
Help us spread this urgent message to other parents by sharing this story, and please contact Crimestoppers if you have any further information on Guizar or his victims.
