7 Things James Dean Said That Would’ve Made Jesus Smile

James Dean wasn’t known as a Christian, but in examining some of his legendary quotes, one has to wonder if him and Jesus could’ve totally bro’d out at some point.

60 years ago today, he left this earth, but I would’ve liked to see what an interaction between the Rebel Without a Cause and the Redeemer with a cause would’ve looked like.

Whether he’s up there or not, here are 7 pretty Biblically-parallel quotes that would’ve surely prompted a head-nod from heaven:

1.) “Only the gentle are ever really strong.”

(Matthew 5:5: “Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth”)

2.) “Trust and belief are two prime considerations. You must not allow yourself to be opinionated.”

(Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”)

3.) “Dream as if you’ll live forever.”

(Ephesians 3:20: “Now glory be to God, by his mighty power at work within us is able to do far more than we would ever dare to ask or even dream of — infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, or hopes.”)

…Live as if you’ll die today.”

(Matthew 24:44: “So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.”)

4.) “If a man can bridge the gap between life and death, if he can live on after he’s dead, then maybe he was a great man.”

(John 11:25:  “…I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies, and everyone who lives and believes in Me will never die.”)

5.) “You are who you are meant to be”

(Jeremiah 1:5: “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”)

6.) “Forgive quickly”

(Matthew 18:21-22: “Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, “Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times? “Jesus answered, “I tell you, not seven times, but seventy-seven times.”)

7.) “Love as if it’s all you know”

(1 Corinthians 13:13: “And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”)
