World Cup Champ Olga Carmona Learns Father Died After Scoring Winning Goal

Millions around the world saw the victorious photo of Spain's 29-year-old soccer star, Olga Carmona, celebrating with her jersey in her teeth after she scored the winning (and only!) goal in the World Cup Finals against Australia Sunday. She didn't know at the time that her own father had passed away during the winning match.

605-Pound Dad Is Told He’s Going to Die, Then Stuns Ellen With a Transformation You Have to See to Believe

At 28 years old, Pasquale “Fat Pat” Brocco was they type of body-guard you didn’t want to mess with.

Standing 6 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing in at 605 pounds, he was a force to be reckoned with—just as long as he didn’t need to catch someone.

The father of one was morbidly obese, and a friendly push-up competition was the kick in the pants Pat needed to do something about it.

Unable to do even one push-up in a room full of people he was entrusted to protect, Pat paid a visit to his doctor. Not only did he learn he had dangerously high blood pressure and cholesterol, Pat’s doctor blatantly told him that if he didn’t make serious changes to his lifestyle soon, he was going to die.

When he returned home, all Pat kept thinking was, “I don’t want to die.” And it was the foundation of change for this new dad.

He started by throwing away all of the food in his house, then decided every time he was hungry, he’d walk to the nearest grocery store—Walmart—and bring the food home to cook.

The store was a mile and a half from his house.

It took three years of walking six miles every day for food, but Pat’s discipline and determination paid off.

By October of 2016, Pat had lost more than half of his body weight. It only seemed fitting that the queen of sharing GOOD stories, Ellen Degeneres, invited him to be a guest on her show.

Not only does Pat look unrecognizably different, but Ellen had an incredible surprise up her sleeve for this dedicated father and his commitment to health.

Pat’s journey is inspiring, and PROOF that nothing is impossible when you make the decision to follow through.
