Firefighters Belt Breathtaking Hymn to God as They Prepare to Take on Wildfires

After nearly two weeks of wildfires burning across the state of California, authorities say there are still at least 15 major wildfires wreaking havoc and claiming lives in the Golden State.

Among the more than 11,000 men and women battling “one of the greatest tragedies” to ever strike California is a group of firefighters from American Samoa.

The group arrived from the southern pacific coast territory of the U.S. prepared to tackle the raging blaze the only way they know how—by singing an a cappella version of a Christian Samoan hymn.

Their angelic voices echoed breathtakingly through the California forest, singing loud and proud the lyrics to a song called “Fa’afetai i le Atua.”

According to a Hawaiian News agency, the song, in which the men can be heard singing “hallelujah” as they come down from the mountain, is about giving thanks to the Lord.

We know that God brings beauty from ashes. May this incredible battle-rendition of a Samoan worship song be just one of the many examples of that in the midst of these wildfires.
