Carrie Underwood’s Husband Responds to Divorce Rumors With Just 8 Words on Instagram

Is Carrie Underwood getting a divorce? As many celebrity couples do at some point in their marriage, Carrie Underwood and husband Mike Fisher have recently been the target of tabloid divorce rumors.

“Carrie Underwood and Mike Fisher Are Headed for a Divorce (EXCLUSIVE)” read a Yahoo! News headline published last week on February 14. Nothing like announcing the demise of a relationship on the holiday of love.

“She and Mike love each other, but like any couple, they’ve had challenges,” a source reportedly told In Touch. “So much so that at times, Carrie has been at the breaking point,” the source said.

Fisher retired from professional hockey last year but recently decided he’d be going back into the sport. The source suggested that his decision to come out of retirement has put a strain on their marriage that would likely end in divorce:

“She really thought that Mike’s retirement was going to give them the time they needed to work on making their family stronger. His decision put a huge strain on their marriage. If Carrie and Mike continue to grow apart, it will surely end in divorce for them. And that would be heartbreaking.”

However, reports by ESPN attest to the quite the opposite regarding Underwood’s opinion on her husband rejoining the Predators hockey team.

“Carrie asked me every few days if I was going to do it,” Fisher told ESPN. “She wanted me to do it. And she’s usually right.”

The same day, Underwood emphatically tweeted, “This is happening! Fish is back! So proud of you, baby! We want the cup!!!”

Still, once a celebrity rumor starts circulating, it isn’t so easily squashed by the facts.

So Fisher decided to take matters into his own hands with a discreet yet clear message about the state of his relationship with Underwood.

Earlier this week, he posted an encouraging Bible verse to Instagram that read, “Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 193:23-24)

One of my new favorite verses because I need this reminder daily!

As an openly devout Christian, the scriptural reference was certainly not out of the ordinary for the returning professional hockey player.

“One of my new favorite verses because I need this reminder daily!” he wrote in the photo’s caption

Hundreds of followers commented on the post, but one by user @beverly.ayers stuck out in particular:

“Praying for you and Carrie. Ignore the media! Hold tight to each other. There are always bumps in the road. Keep focusing on Jesus! He will guide you thru!”

Of the 316 comments on the post, this was the ONLY one Fisher replied to.

He simply wrote, “That’s not media. We’ve never been better. Thanks.”

Well tabloids, take THAT.

Though the couple may be enduring life challenges, as we ALL do, rest assured that this Christian power couple has no intent on calling it quits anytime soon.

Wishing them and their beautiful 2-year-old baby boy Isaiah, a joyful, drama-free future. And kudos to Fisher for killing those rumors with class!
