It doesn’t matter who you are, we all have questions for God. Whether you’ve asked, “Who should I marry?” or, “Where should I go to college?” these questions about our direction in life are normal. “Ask and you shall receive,” right?
For most of us as Christians, when we seek the will of the Lord, his promises are true—He reveals something new. It may not always be the answer we thought, or had even hoped for, but there’s no doubt that his way is far greater than anything we could ever dream up on our own.
In a rural village in Northwest China, a woman named Ting was posed with these questions all the time. She was a local Shaman—someone who could tap into the world of good and evil spirits through magic to practice divination and healing.
Thousands came to Ting in pursuit of her “divine counsel,” and she was proud of her success.
As we know, there is only ONE, True God. And Ting was playing her own version of God through Shamanism.
Her health began to rapidly decline with no warning, and within just a few days, Ting was paralyzed on her death bed.
No doctor could diagnose her illness, and Ting was unable to practice her spiritual healing due to her extreme pain and agony. Her only escape was sleep—but even that was terrifying, because every moment that passed could easily be her last.
Ting fell into a deep sleep. It was during this sleep when Jesus challenged everything Ting had ever known, and transformed her heart.
“I was in the back seat of a taxi as my brother drove me towards an endless darkness. But then three men, who were wearing brilliant white robes, approached. But their light was so bright, I couldn’t see their faces. They told me I must make a choice. And as they spoke, two other men wearing black robes invited me to follow them. I knew in my heart one of the men wearing a white robe was Jesus. So I followed Him.”
Not only did the Lord transform Ting’s heart that night, He transformed her body and soul.
When Ting woke up, her body was miraculously healed. She was able to move and her strength was restored.
That’s when she remembered her dream. She knew that following the man in white (Jesus) was the only reason she was alive that morning. He was the power behind her healing, and He’d given her new life.
Ting was eager to give herself over to Jesus. She immediately gave up everything she’d ever known to serve and follow Him.
If you’re anything like me, you probably wake up and have no idea what you dreamed about last night. But Ting’s dream was different. God was at work.
He is REAL, and His plans are SO good!! After giving her life to Christ, Ting faced so many battles in which she could have abandoned her faith, and turned her back on the One who saved her. But she didn’t. Even when her family abused her, she didn’t deny Christ. Even when persecution came, she was so sure of the God who became flesh within her and saved her from death that she never once questioned her decision to follow Him.
It was God’s radical intervention that changed Ting. Today she is a devout Christian, whose testimony serves as a powerful encouragement to others who have not yet given their lives to Christ.
