Actor Chris Pratt married fiancée Katherine Schwarzenegger on Saturday in an intimate ceremony he called “moving and emotional.”
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” star announced the nuptials to his 25 million Instagram followers on Sunday alongside a picture of the newlyweds donning ear-to-ear smiles and custom-made Armani.
“Yesterday was the best day of our lives!” the 39-year-old wrote. “We became husband and wife in front of God, our families and those we love.”
“It was intimate, moving and emotional,” he continued. “We feel so blessed to begin this new chapter of our lives. We are so thankful to our families and our friends who stood with us and grateful to Mr. Giorgio Armani who created a once in a lifetime dress for Katherine to wear and for me, the perfect suit. This morning we feel nothing but blessed.”
Schwarzenegger, a 29-year-old author, is the daughter of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger and journalist Maria Shriver.
“You can tell today is the happiest day for Katherine,” a source told PEOPLE. “She hasn’t stopped smiling. And Chris seems giddy with excitement. The venue is beautiful. Lots of flowers and greenery everywhere. It’s a very romantic setting for a wedding.”
“The whole family took wedding photos, including her parents Maria [Shriver] and Arnold [Schwarzenegger],” the source added. “Everyone just looked so happy.”
Pratt announced their engagement in January of this year after dating Schwarzenegger for seven months. He previously ended his 9-year marriage to actress Anna Faris in 2018.
As Pratt heads into his second marriage to Katherine Schwarzenegger, the actor is as determined as ever to have a faith-filled union founded upon God — though he’s received great criticism for “moving too fast” after his high-profile divorce.
“Sweet Katherine, so happy you said yes!” he wrote in an Instagram announcement earlier this year. “I’m thrilled to be marrying you. Proud to live boldly in faith with you.”
In a birthday tribute to his sweetheart last December, Pratt wrote: “thrilled God put you in my life.”
The picture featured Schwarzenegger holding a wooden sign etched with the words of 1 Timothy 1:14:
“Grace mixed with faith and love poured over me and into me. And all because of Jesus.”
While Schwarzenegger was raised in a Catholic home, she has reportedly been attending nondenominational churches over the last several years.
“They’re going to want a religious wedding,” an insider told PEOPLE. “I know that Chris does, and I assume that she does, too. God is going to be a part of this marriage.”
