Lauren Daigle Returns to the ‘American Idol’ Stage That Rejected Her to Sing Multi-Platinum Hit “Look Up, Child”

Lauren Daigle returned to 'American Idol' to perform her hit song "Look Up, Child" for millions of fans—some in the audience and some watching from home.

Christians Slam Lauren Daigle for Singing on Ellen Since She’s Gay—Singer Claps Back With Pure Class

Lauren Daigle’s career has been booming since the launch of her album “Look Up Child”, which ranked number 3 on the Billboard 200, a chart that spans across all music genres.

Most recently, the Christian singer appeared on “The Ellen Show,” after which Daigle received some major backlash for performing on a show where the host is openly homosexual. Sadly, singing on the show of a “Godless sinner like Ellen” was the exact quote one preacher’s wife used in critiquing Daigle’s choice.

In a recent interview with WAY-FM Radio, Daigle was asked about the controversy that was aroused by her performance.

One Way-FM listener wrote the following message after they aired their segment with the singer:

“Ellen brings absolutely no glory to God. I don’t see the significance to the kingdom of God by using her as any kind of example on your show. Consider this: she will most likely never discuss you and WAY-FM on her show, so don’t give her that much power.

-Debbie”

Daigle, however, seems to have a different perspective. The two-time Grammy nominee sent a riveting message to her haters, warning them to be careful about missing the heart of God:

“It is not up to me to choose who I am supposed to love.”

Like Jesus, she believes we are called to love and bring the Gospel message to all of His people.

“I think the second we start drawing lines around which people are able to be approached and which aren’t, we’ve already completely missed the heart of God,” said Daigle.

“I don’t have all the answers in life, but one thing I know is that I can’t choose who I’m supposed to be kind to and who I’m not, because that’s the mission right?” she continued. “Be who Christ was to everyone as well.”

She also pointed out that Ellen herself chose the song “Still Rolling Stones” for her to perform on her show (featured below).

“I don’t know why, but I know that she’s really purposeful in choosing a message as well, so maybe that was the one that spoke to her the most,” said Daigle.

The Christian artist’s next huge gig is her debut on “The Tonight Show” with Jimmy Fallon, something Daigle called a “personal dream” in her Instagram announcement of the exciting news.

“SURPRISEEE!!!! Personal dream. So excited to announce that I will be on Jimmy Fallon!” she wrote in her caption. “I always said that if I ever make it on @fallontonight, I would run and slide on his desk. That would be my dream entrance. Who knows what could happen. Tune in Wednesday 11/7.”
