Unlike many elite athletes backed by corporate sponsorships, Dylan remains an unsponsored athlete, funding his dreams through his own hard-earned income. His story resonates deeply with those who understand the sacrifices and dedication required to pursue excellence in sports while managing the demands of everyday life.
Last year, Dylan Beard received his Masters Degree in Public Health from Howard University. He hopes to use it to empower and counsel at-risk youth. His academic achievements parallel his athletic feats, showcasing a multifaceted individual driven by a desire to make a positive impact both on and off the track.
After his stunning victory in New York, he followed it up with a win in Power Springs, Georgia, in a tuneup for the trials. He won the 110-meter hurdles in a personal best of 13.10 seconds in a race that he said wasn’t even his “best” effort.
“I know I can do better,” he said of the victory. “I hit quite a few hurdles so it wasn’t my best.”
Support and Community Spirit
Throughout his journey, Dylan has drawn strength from his tight-knit circle of family, friends, and colleagues. Their unwavering support was evident when Walmart surprised him with a $20,000 donation to facilitate his loved ones’ attendance at the Olympic Trials in Eugene, Oregon.
The Road to Paris 2024
As Dylan Beard prepares for the U.S. Olympic Trials, his focus remains resolute. Supported by his team, coaches, and a growing legion of supporters, he is determined to secure a spot on Team USA for the upcoming Paris Olympics. His journey serves as an inspiration to aspiring athletes worldwide, proving that with dedication and perseverance, anything is possible.
