In a follow-up interview, Jones says he’s still irked about the whole situation almost two years later, recounting the father’s lack of concern.
“He’s leaving his kid in the middle of the river…didn’t care to see if he’s okay, didn’t care to yell back to shore to anybody to grab him…didn’t jump out of his boat to go swim to him…,” he says dejectedly.

What’s more is that Jones says police never asked him for the video footage he had from the incident. He had to track the police down to give them what he captured.
Ultimately, he says he just hopes the boy is okay.
“A lot of times, these Department of Human Services won’t pull a child from a home until it’s too late,” Jones says, reflecting on his law-enforcement background.
Jones says his hope in sharing the video is that people would be able to help in checking in on the child and make sure he’s okay.
“I don’t think at six-years-old, any kid would have been able to go through that event and still be okay.”
