Brandy Mosley’s final moments were spent saving the life of her 4-year-old son, Toran.

While visiting Crystal Beach in Bolivar, Texas, last Monday, Toran was playing in the surf when the waves started tossing him around more than he could handle. Though he was wearing water wings, they didn’t stand a chance against the strength of the waves.
Brandy saw a wave pummel her son, and raced toward him when he was unable to stand back up.

The 33-year-old was able to get to her son, pull him from the water and hand him to a relative who was standing behind her.
But as the relative worked their way back to the beach with Toran in tow, it was Brandy who needed a lifeline.
Unusually rough water caused by high-speed winds pulled Brandy out under the water before anyone could react.
“They turned around and noticed she was not visible,” said Major Douglas Hudson of the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. “It happened that quick. This all happened about 25 feet from shore.”
The beach had no lifeguards, and no way of saving the woman who had just saved her own son’s life.
Authorities searched for hours, hoping to bring some news and relief to Brandy’s family and friends. Abby Mares told ABC 7:
