Do you have a kid who’s an outside-the-box thinker? One who can’t fit in society’s mold that says, walk, talk, and think this way. And one whose brilliance and vibrant being certainly can’t be summed up in “A,” “B,” “C” grade labels or standardized test scores…
One whose creativity can’t be contained by art projects and thoughts can’t be directed to a math lesson on cue — maybe he/she’s a dreamer, a giver, and a heart-on-my-sleeve empathizer, but those attributes are never scored on a report card, or even given notice… But you notice.

In a viral Facebook post, Amy details her experience with her son, who fits the description above to a tee. While not a controlled thinker, the greatest listener, or the best test scorer, he was blessed with a fierce love, the biggest of hearts, and an old soul wise beyond his years.
Since it was shared on Facebook earlier this week, Amy’s post has been shared across the web by thousands of parents who have been in her shoes.
And if you read carefully, you might just find yourself in those shoes too:
“He’s the kid who never listens the first time.
Or the second.
Or even the tenth.
You can pick him up out of the line up in the school hallways.
He’s the one who doesn’t walk in an orderly fashion. He runs or spins or stops in his tracks if something catches his eye.
He has a hard time keeping his hands to himself.
His handwriting and spelling don’t betray his intelligence…you might be fooled into thinking it’s all a struggle if you’re not paying attention.
He’s the one making all the noises with his mouth, only stopping when his siblings finally yell at him.
His heart sometimes breaks a little because he’s not always sure why what he’s doing is so wrong.
His ideas come out in a jumble and you have to slow way down and look in his eyes to listen.
His ideas are just too big and too fast for his head it seems and so they come out in any old order.
But he needs you to hear him.
His energy cannot be contained by walls and he seems to take up so much more space than his size.
