Joy Behar Mocks Mike Pence’s Faith as “Mental Illness”—News Anchor Strikes Back With Powerful Response

No strangers to stirring up controversy, the largely liberal talk show hosts of ABC’s “The View” are all too notorious for taking cheap shots at conservative Christians.

This time, Joy Behar is making headlines for mocking Vice President Mike Pence’s faith, even going as far as to call it a “mental illness.”

The comment stemmed from a clip in “Celebrity Big Brother” where former White House political aide, Omarosa Manigault Newman, brought Mike Pence’s faith practices into question.

“As bad as you think Trump is, you would be worried about Pence,” she said. “Everyone that is wishing for impeachment might want to reconsider their life… I am Christian, I love Jesus, but he thinks Jesus tells him to say things.”

Fellow View panelist Sunny Hostin added that Pence is a “hated figure” who “puts this religious veneer on things and calls people ‘values voters.'”

Though she describes herself as a faithful Catholic, Hostin stated that she still doesn’t want her VP “speaking in tongues.”

While she has long-held an Italian-Catholic persona, Behar has never been one to shy away from poking fun at Christianity in the media—so she quickly jumped aboard with Newman and Hostin’s criticisms.

“It’s one thing to talk to Jesus. It’s another thing when Jesus talks to you,” said Behar. “That’s called mental illness if I’m not correct.”

As if that wasn’t enough, she pushed the irreverent joke a bit further in questioning, “Can he talk to Mary Magdalene without his wife in the room?”

Not surprisingly, Behar’s disrespectful commentary about both the Vice President and our Savior has many Christians fired up.

Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren weighed in on her distasteful remarks in saying, “Who is she to question how often our Vice President should speak to his Lord and Savior? Who is she to mock anyone for their faith?”

“These people are really really amazing to me because they preach day in and day out about tolerance and love,” Lahren continued. “Tolerance and love for everyone except conservative Christians. And then they can mock you and it’s funny, and you’re something they can use for their jokes around the table and they can all cackle about it. It’s really disgusting. Not surprising, but disgusting.”

“If you want Joy Behar to be quiet, just say that maybe someone is speaking to Allah and Allah talks back,” another anchor replied. “She would not be mocking that.”

“They live in a world where men can be women, and women can be men,” added Lahren, “but if you’re a conservative Christian, you have a mental illness.”

One more Fox commentator closed in saying she truly felt sorry for Behar, as her misguided quips make it clear she doesn’t know the real Jesus:

“You know, as a Christian she doesn’t know Christ. She doesn’t know the joy and the love that he provides to so many people, and so it just made me feel sorry for her.”
