Julia Roberts Opens Up About the Disease She’s Fighting and It Might Be All Too Familiar

Julia Roberts has spent the last 27 years making America fall in love with whatever character she was pretending to be. From Runaway Bride to My Best Friend’s Wedding, her huge smile and bubbly personality have lit up the screens and now, she’s inspiring the world in a whole new way.

Getting tired of the media bullying people into believing their skin isn’t beautiful, Julia went to her Facebook to share a message with the world. A message that we so desperately needed to hear.

The post reads:

“Perfection is a disease of a nation. We overlay our faces with tons of make-up. We get botoxs and even starve ourselves to become that perfect size. We try to fix something but you can’t fix what you can’t see. It’s the soul that needs the surgery. It’s time that we take a stand. How can you expect someone else to love you if you don’t love yourself? You have to be happy with yourself. It doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, it’s whats on the inside that counts. Today, I want to put up a makeup-free photo. I know I have wrinkles on my skin but today I want you to see beyond that. I want to embrace the real me and I want you to embrace who you are, the way you are, and love yourself just the way you are.”

Not only is Julia challenging the world to ignore cultural pressures but she’s practicing what she preaches in her own home! Here she is talking about what made her take a step back from the spotlight and why she’s okay if it means losing her title as “A” list celebrity:
