NFL Player Breaks Down Sharing the Story Behind Why He Hates the “R word”

26 year old Browns player, Joe Haden has been fiercely protecting others ever since, at age 9, he saved his 4 year old brother from drowning in a pool. His brother,who has a cognitive disorder affecting his speech, inspires Joe to play hard and work hard for others. Haden is the first NFL player to be named a Special Olympics Global Ambassador.  Additionally, he’s been working with the movement Spread the Word to End the Word toward the elimination of the “R-word.”  Haden told ESPN news, “The R-word is hurtful, hateful and ignorant. Like the N-word, it should not be part of our language.”
