1 ½ Years After My Wedding, I Saw Marriage Wasn’t for Me—When I Looked at my Wife, I Knew My Dad Was Right

"The nearer Kim and I approached the decision to marry, the more I was filled with a paralyzing fear. Was I ready? Was I making the right choice? Was Kim the right person to marry? Would she make me happy? Then, one fateful night..."

PETA Attempts a Ban Against Meat-Eating Men by Calling Women to a Sex Strike

The Response to the Strike Against Meat-Eating Men

One Twitter user responding to Waldman’s videos wrote, “It’s a joke, isn’t it?”

Another user agreed, saying “The most comprehensive meta-analysis conducted to date with 119 countries, shows avoiding meat, dairy and eggs is the “single biggest way” to reduce our environmental impact on Earth. -Oxford University.”

However, many people brought up “women’s fashions and makeup” as large contributors to pollution.

Daniel Marshall posted to Twitter, “How much shampoo bottles, old make up containers, body lotions containers, and clothes do women go though vs men. How long of showers to women take vs men?”

Some people seemed to have an immediate negative reaction because of the reputation of the organization. One user said, “The first problem is listening to PETA about literally anything.”

Others asked for sources for Waldman’s assertions. And one questioned why men specifically, if in some couples the female is the meat-eater and the male is vegan.

Sky News Australia covered the story, including clips of activists’ reasons for the ban on meat-eating men. The news site called it “Your Weekly Dose of Whacky Education.”

In a clip of a marketing manager for the activist group, Laura Weyman-Jones explained that this sex strike is what’s needed “if you do want to improve your relationships” and “your sex life.”

In response to Weyman-Jones, a YouTube user posted, “I think my wife would have a major problem with both not having sex, or not eating meat,” and explained that his wife is “more carnivorous” than he.

Another YouTube user said, “I’ve been banned from sex for ages – hasn’t taught me a lesson at all!”

In Britain, news anchors called the sex strike “a novel idea.”

Good Morning Britain, brought two opposing views on their show to debate the issue. Watch that here:

The debater for the sex strike pointed out the large “carbon footprint by men” because of their meat eating.

The debater against the sex strike started by saying that he doesn’t eat meat and he “didn’t stop eating meat because (he) was banned from having sex.” His problem with the call against meat-eating men is partially the way all men were depicted as “blokes with big grills by the barbeque, cooking up huge steaks and stuffing them, while their wives exist on a diet of lettuce.”
