Crissy Outlaw (formerly Crissy Moran) is likely not a name you have floating around your household. She’s not a Disney princess, and her past is no example of a role model for young girls, but her journey is one that she hopes will lead others to new life.
An ex-porn star with an incredible testimony, Crissy Outlaw spent years in the adult entertainment industry.
Not only did she find the will to drop everything she knew and walk away from the booming sex industry, she did so in pursuit of Jesus Christ.
Growing up, Crissy was told two very different things about sex. As a teenager, her father encouraged her to save herself for marriage, while her mother offered to put her on birth control if she decided to start having sex.
Confused and searching for a love that would fill this inexplicable void in her, Crissy found that she could fulfill those desires with boyfriends—if only for a while.
An unexpected teenage pregnancy landed her in an abortion clinic with her boyfriend, who later left her for college. She says it was one of the “most traumatic” things she’d ever experienced.
“I was fully awake and aware of everything going on during the abortion and my heart was shattered while the life was literally being sucked out of me,” she says, reliving the procedure. “It was awful…my school knew about my abortion and I lost all my friends.”
Crissy was empty. She’d put all of herself into one person—one thing that was supposed to give her hope—and it betrayed her.
Like many before her, Crissy “never planned on going into the sex industry.” But that’s where the path of depression and loneliness eventually led her.
At her peak, the porn star was raking in more than $15,000 per month. But no amount of money or website views was enough to leave her feeling fulfilled in the slightest.
In the depths of her despair, Crissy remembers crying out to God, asking Him to prove Himself to her, and reveal Truth:
“God, if you’re real, I need you to tell me,” she prayed. “I need a sign because everything I know about love is twisted.”
The next day, Crissy found herself in a conversation with a man who asked her what she did for a living. Lying as usual, she told him she was a model, and made up some of the work she’d done.
“He didn’t fall for it, and I eventually wound up telling him that I did adult porn,” Crissy says. “I felt really ashamed in that moment.”
That’s when God showed up. The man she was talking to looked her dead in the eye and asked her if she believes in God.
“In that moment I knew that God had sent this person to speak to me, because nobody had mentioned God to me since I was a little girl.”
He shared with her the Truth about how much God loves her, and that He sent His son Jesus to die for our sins.

After hearing the Gospel, Crissy and the man prayed, and she decided in that moment to leave all of it—everything she’d ever worked for—behind. God had heard her prayer and she wanted to repent.
Crissy says making the decision to follow Christ was easy. It was giving up the rich lifestyle of being a porn star that took commitment.
She tried to have her website removed, but was refused a way out of her contract.
“If you were trying to leave the industry to try and have a child or start a family, I would understand,” she remembers him saying. “I can’t let you out of the contract for a fantasy like God.”
In the decade since first leaving the fame and money behind, Crissy has made it her mission to share her story with others, saying she feels “called” to tell people why she left the porn industry in hopes that it will prevent others from making the same mistakes.
But the journey has not come without hardship and trials.
“Most people can think about their pasts and can easily hide it…never sharing it with anyone for the rest of their lives. The evidence and consequences of my past mistakes will never go away,” she writes on her website. “I have to deal with this daily, and it isn’t easy. I find happiness in using my past to help others who might be going down a similar path.”
Still, God is good. And through it all, He’s been her rock.

Today, Crissy is a devout Christian who tours the country sharing her story of faith and redemption. She’s happily married, and no longer ashamed of telling people about her past.
She may not be a household name, but her journey is one that all young girls should hear. It could radically change the decisions they make, and the legacy they lead.
