After being found, Joshua Rowland was taken to the hospital for a check-up, but his parents reported that he seemed to be doing fine, despite the scary experience.
After everyone was sure JJ was okay, Link also joked, “Maybe he’ll be my hiking buddy when he gets older.”
When asked about the seriousness of the situation, considering what the child could have been exposed to, Link commented, “You probably wouldn’t find a lot of adults that would stay out there in the middle of the night…Who knows what’s out there?”
“We have coyotes and Bobcats and that type of stuff,” Link continued on. “I’m sure he had to be scared…especially during the night, but he seemed in good spirits.”
The family was so thankful to Link that they had him take a picture with them. “The whole family–grandma, cousins, everybody,” Link said, explaining the celebration with the family.
The Hernando County Sheriff’s Office posted a video of Link and Nienhuis recounting the event:
Nienhuis officially thanked Link in the video, saying, “It was true miracle…God is real.”
