When Calysta Bevier took the America’s Got Talent stage, her poise and quiet confidence immediately struck the judges. Howie even called her “a little Audrey Hepburn.”
However, Calysta’s demeanor took a slightly more serious tone as she admitted her hair style wasn’t really her choice. She was, in fact, a survivor of stage 3 ovarian cancer.
“I kind of came here today to show people that no matter what you’ve gone through to keep chasing you dreams,” she told the crowd.
The audience and judges alike were wowed by her strength and persistence in pursuing her passions after going through such a difficult journey.
But the goosebumps were just getting started. When she hit the mic with “Fight Song,” every soul in the room could feel Calysta’s cancer battle in their bones through her angelic voice. Her one-in-a-million performance brought all four judges to their feet and even left Cowell slamming his only Golden Buzzer of the season. The roaring crowd seemed to indicate his decision made America proud.
I can’t wait to see how far Calysta goes in her AGT journey and beyond! There are clearly big things ahead for this brave young fighter!
