They Weren’t Allowed to Paint Jesus at a Public School, So These Kids Waited 3 Hours for a “Final Act” That Knocked the Audience Breathless

These students of Allen Elementary School in Soddy Daisy, TN wanted to do something spectacular for their classmates in the school talent show. There was just one problem.

They wanted to do a piece-by-piece painting of Jesus to demonstrate how he “Paid It All” by dying on the cross and raising from the dead. With it being a public school, they weren’t technically supposed to do so. So they waited nearly 3 hours backstage so they could be the last act and forewarn the audience that they would be doing a religious performance in case anyone wanted to leave.

But those who stayed were sure glad that they did. Their painting turned into an insanely beautiful act of worship on stage, and it’s the best thing you’ll see all day:

Were there concerns that this was performed in a public school? Sure. But see the comment that YouTube poster Rachel Loomis left for those who were “disturbed”:

“Most of these children all go to a local church in our area, and they wanted to do this skit for their classmates. These boys and girls waited patiently in the back for 2 1/2 hours while everyone else in the talent show had their time. They were the very LAST act, and they announced 15 minutes BEFORE they went on, what their skit was about, which gave anyone in the building plenty of time to leave if they didn’t want to stay and watch. This was NOT during school hours, it was an evening of fun, and didn’t go against any “guidelines”!! I am so very thankful that my daughter was asked to perform with these AMAZING children, and I know this performance will stay with her for the rest of her life.”

Kudos to these kids for waiting out the whole show just so they could put Jesus on display. Talk about saving the best act for last!
