This Random Lunch Date Is Going Viral for a Totally Beautiful Reason

A simple lunch date was all it took to show how a human connection can make a difference.

As WPVI News reports, Brook Ochoa of Louise, Texas was headed into a restaurant for lunch and held the door open for the woman behind her. When she heard the woman request a, “table for one,” she asked the stranger if she would like to dine together.

The woman was, “ecstatic,” and their resulting meal together was the beginning of an unexpected friendship.

“We had a wonderful talk, and she just kept smiling and saying thank you for listening to me, which made me smile too!” Brooke wrote. “Her words healed my heart just as much as I healed her lonely one. By far the best decision I’ve made all year!!!”

Brooke says that she and Delores agreed to have lunch together every Thursday, from now on.

Her simple act of reaching out to someone else struck a chord on Facebook, where the story has been shared more than 250,000 times and racked up more than two million “likes.”

Despite the attention, Brooke says she was just trying to make one person’s day a little better.

“[A]ll I wanted was to make a difference in one persons life.. to be kind, to do better, to see that being there for someone else can fill your heart with just as much happiness too,” she said.

She adds that she posted her experience on Facebook so that others might also follow her lead and do something that will put a smile on the face of another.
