It’s hard to come by a more adorable couple than Thomas Rhett and his wife Lauren Akins.
They’ve known each other since first grade, and Rhett has gushed over his sweetheart since the day they met. However, it took Lauren a bit to warm up to her now hubby.
“I don’t think she really noticed me ’til we were 16,” said Rhett. “When I heard that she had ended her other relationship, I moved in for the kill. We kissed, and that was it.”
He even made a video detailing their love story that blossomed from best friends to soul mates.
After years of friendship, he finally tied the knot with the love of his life, and he thanks God every day for bringing them together. He shared these heartwarming words on Instagram on their three-year anniversary:
“3 years ago today by the grace of God @laur_akins married me. I could not be happier than I am right now. Here’s to many more! Love you babe.”
Lauren was also the inspiration for Rhett’s hit single “Die a Happy Man,” after which America quickly crowned this couple king and queen of relationship goals.
However, this remarkable lady is inspiring the world in more ways than one.
While Rhett was climbing the country charts, Lauren finished her schooling as a nurse—and now she loves using her passion for medicine to give back to those in need.
Lauren travels internationally with an organization called 147 Million Orphans to help give orphans in third-world countries much-needed medical treatment.
Appropriately, one of Lauren’s favorite verses is Isaiah 6:8:
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
According to their website, 147 Million Orphans’ mission is to “impact the lives of children affected by the orphan crisis by providing for their basic needs. The provision of food, water and medicine in the name of Jesus Christ.”
Rhett asked fans to pray for Lauren’s trip on Instagram last week.
He wrote, “Y’all please pray for @laur_akins and the whole @147million team as they head to Africa today! Thank y’all for all of your support.”
Rhett confirmed that she arrived safely, and from the looks of Lauren’s recent Instagram history, it appears the trip has been going well!
“Leaving a piece of my 💙 in Africa,” she shared with this photo yesterday.
However, it looks like Rhett is missing his baby and will be happy to have her back in his arms soon.
“Can’t wait to see bae in a few days,” he wrote.
We’ll be praying for Lauren’s ministry work in Uganda and a safe trip home!
