Christian rapper TobyMac’s oldest child, Truett, has died suddenly at home, a representative confirmed this morning.
“Truett did pass away at home in the Nashville area sometime Tuesday night or Wednesday morning,” the representative said in a statement on Thursday morning, though the details of his death have yet to be confirmed.
The Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office released a statement regarding the 21-year-old’s death on Wednesday, asking that people be respectful of Toby and his family’s privacy during this time:
“Cause of death has not been determined. Toby was traveling back from Canada and did not get home to be with his family until after midnight last night so there is no statement. We just ask that everyone please be respectful of their privacy during this time and allow them to grieve their loss.”
Truett Foster McKeehan aspired to be a rapper like his father, and he released songs online under the names truDog, TRU, and Shiloh.
The grieving father has left in the middle of a week-long Canadian tour to spend time with his wife and kids in Franklin, Tennesee. His concerts scheduled for Thursday in Edmonton and Friday in Calgary have been postponed.
Please join us in praying for TobyMac’s family during this unthinkable time.
