Tragedy to Triumph: Triplets Lost Their Dad — Now All 3 Receive NCAA Honors

The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) honors the best of the best. With more than a thousand schools and nearly 190,000 student-athletes, the association is already comprised of remarkable young men and women. And, these triplets — among just 1,600 other athletes — were awarded the Division I All-American honors.

Creed, Davin, and Sage Thompson, from Utah, are all impressive and determined individuals. Creed and Davin are both cross country runners at Brigham Young University. And, Sage is an accomplished gymnast at the University of Utah.

While taking a rigorous load of college courses, these athletes are also tasked with following a regimented practice and competition schedule.

Eight years ago, the triplets lost their father to cancer. Now, they’re honored by the NCAA.

The triplets received NCAA All-American honors

“I know Bryce would be so proud of them,” mom, Jenni Thompson told TODAY.com. “It was so important to him that they continue living their lives and doing what they loved.”

For cross country, the top 40 overall finishers at the national meet are awarded All-American honors. And, in gymnastics, the top eight finishers at the national championship are awarded All-American honors.

This award is truly given to the elite best of collegiate athletes.
