In a world that continually redefines gender roles and family dynamics, a new yet nostalgic movement known as “Trad Wives” has gained traction among a segment of women on social media.

Short for “Traditional Wives,” this term describes women who embrace traditional roles of homemaking, child-rearing, and supporting their husbands as their primary functions. This lifestyle choice, reminiscent of the 1950s, is finding renewed interest today as women across the country are choosing to reject the “boss babe” lifestyle, and wanting nothing to do with shattering glass ceilings.

One of the most prominent figures in this movement, though she doesn’t identify as a “trad wife,” is Hannah Neeleman, whose life and philosophy epitomize the Trad Wife ethos.

Hannah, who is known to her nine million followers on Instagram as Ballerina Farm, can regularly be seen milking cows, caring for goats, fixing beautiful sourdough loaves, and has a style that many would liken to a modern “Little House on the Prairie.” She’s a mother to eight kids, and also competes in beauty pageants.

Though many of Instagram’s most popular Trad Wives have expertly monetized the platform to bring in a pretty penny themselves.
