“Don’t Be Fooled”: Wife Posts Powerful Message to Young Women After Husband Rushes to ALDI in the Middle of His Work Day

You may think you know what love looks like when your hot-shot high school boyfriend rolls up for prom in his dad’s Mercedes, wooing you with a dozen roses and a Prince-Charming smooch on the hand, but Hiding in the Closet With Coffee blogger Amy knows that love life after 40 is different—it’s better.

If you find the RIGHT one that is.

In a viral Facebook post, Amy details an enviably sweet, grocery-store encounter with her husband that shows what a “knight in shining armor” is REALLY made of, and it’s the wake-up call every young woman today needs.

“This is what your knight in shining armor looks like when you are in your 40’s,” Amy dotes over the snapshot of her hubby rushing from work to greet her at ALDI with her forgotten credit card.

Noting the smile on his face and his adorable admonishment (if you could call it that) to let him do the shopping instead, this grateful wife couldn’t help but share her eye-opening perspective on the kind of love that endures.

“Do not be fooled,” Amy warns unseasoned lovers who are still blinded by flashy promposals and romantic Valentine’s gifts, urging that we need to pay more attention to how he treats you when “Instagram isn’t looking.”

Read her powerful post in full below that has now been shared by thousands of women across the web with a united battle cry of “A-to-the-MEN”:

“Listen up young ones.

This is what your knight in shining armor looks like when you are in your 40’s. This is what love looks like.

Yes, that’s my amazing husband who is arriving on the scene with his credit card because what you can’t see is me, standing next to a cart super full of groceries that I couldn’t pay for because I couldn’t find my wallet.

Not sure you can tell, but he’s smiling at me. Yup…he had to leave work and he is smiling. His only words of admonishment were, ‘You’re not supposed to be grocery shopping I said I’d go this week.’

Seriously.

Young people, this is what love looks like when you’re old and it’s ridiculous how awesome it is.

Love also looks like me coming downstairs to a full pot of coffee every morning because coffee is love.

Love looks like all the lunches being made already so I can enjoy that aforementioned cup of coffee.

Love looks like someone washing the dishes while his wife catches up on This is Us while plopped on the couch not helping at all.
