33 Bible Verses About Faith, Hope, and Trust to Use in Prayer During Hard Times

The Christian life isn’t always sunshine and daisies. In fact, more often than not, it’s trials, pain, and hardships, which make Bible verses about faith so much more important to cling to. There are mountains and valleys, and sometimes life is just way too much to bear.

My husband got a text on Monday night just as we were climbing into bed. It was about 11 p.m. and all it said was “Pray big, Andy needs a miracle.”

It turns out that a man who goes to our church—an incredible leader in the Christian faith, and a father and husband—was out running in his neighborhood when a drunk driver hit him, then fled the scene. Neighbors nearby heard the impact and raced to call 9-1-1. Andy was brought to the hospital with a brain bleed, a shattered eye socket, two broken vertebrae, and a totally obliterated leg.

He was put into a medically induced coma while doctors work to repair what they can.

But in the days since, you can bet your life on the fact that Andy’s family has turned to God’s Word. The uphill battle they face, the unknown that is still to come, and the recovery that will soon begin is so much more than any human could possibly handle on their own. But in the same breath, our God is SO much greater than anything we will face here on earth.

Maybe today you’re feeling buried by the trials and brokenness of your circumstance. Maybe you’re feeling defeated, like God has forgotten about you. Hear me when I say, He has not.

I don’t know why God allows bad things to happen to good people, but I do know two things:

1. God’s heart is breaking right along with yours. He hurts WITH you, and he knows your pain.

2. No matter what pain comes against you in this world, God has already redeemed it. There IS beauty in the unknown, even when the unknown feels like your world is crashing down around you.

Turn to the God of all comfort. Turn to the One who provides peace that surpasses all understanding.

Bible verses about faith and trust in hard times:

1. Isaiah 41:10

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
