“This 5-year-old child, a hero, saved 3 lives today. How can something so awesome be so sad all at the same time? We brought the young boy and infant into the police department after the incident. He was given a badge for being so brave.”
The incident is just one of the many cases plaguing the state of Ohio, which is home to a widespread heroin and opioid epidemic. The situation is so bad that police stations in some counties have had to request cold-storage trailers from the Ohio Emergency Management Agency, due to the lack of space for incoming bodies at the morgues.
Middletown Division of Police ended their post with a plea to the community:
“IT HAS TO STOP! PLEASE get help before it’s too late. Not only to save yourself, but to save your kids. Give these kids a chance by getting help. If you or someone you love has a drug problem, please seek help right now.”
They also included a list of resources for those who need it.
No child should ever have to worry about finding their parents dead on the floor. This little boy is a hero, and we are praying that he and his little sister are placed in the safe environment that they deserve.
