More than a decade ago now, the world lost beloved wildlife expert Steve Irwin to a freak stingray accident. The Australian conservationist best known as The Crocodile Hunter traipsed the world sporting khakis and contagious enthusiasm as he searched for dangerous animals.

Though he passed too soon, Steve left behind two beautiful children whose passion and enthusiasm for animals runs as deep as their father’s.
In recent years, we’ve seen 18-year-old Bindi making appearances across the media and becoming a television personality in her own right. She starred in her own shows like Bindi: The Jungle Girl, and My Daddy The Crocodile Hunter, before making her debut on Dancing With the Stars in 2015. At just 16 years old, she was the winning star that season.

Now it’s Robert’s turn.

The 13-year-old made his first American solo debut on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon last week, and it’s safe to say, our hearts could not have been more full.

With admirable poise, and an innocently cheerful demeanor, Robert was truly excited to be on the show, telling Jimmy:
“My dad was actually on The Tonight Show quite a while ago, and it’s really nice to be able to follow in his footsteps.”

He added:
“That is just in my blood. I actually grew up at Australia Zoo. I think I’m the luckiest kid on Planet Earth!”
Steve’s son (and mini doppelgänger) went on to introduce Jimmy to a few of his favorite animals right on The Tonight Show’s stage, channeling his father’s contagious personality and joy for animals.
