Mom Asks Sick 4-Yr-Old “What Does Love Mean?” Her 1-Word Answer Left Her Weeping

Four-year-old Leah Carrol has been winning hearts across the Internet.

For obvious reasons, if I do say so myself!

Prayers And Love For Leah

It all started when her mother, Lindsay, filmed her singing along to Mandisa’s “Overcomer,” from her hospital bed. The adorable rendition of the Christian tune has since been viewed almost 40 million times!

Along with the video, Lindsay writes:

“My daughter has overcome two bone marrow transplants. She has spent the last 322 days away from her family and mostly in the hospital due to complications. However, she has the joy of the Lord and a love for music.“

Leah has been battling severe Congenital Neutropenia since 2014, and she’s spent the past year almost exclusively in the hospital. But this overcomer is truly “a light to all she meets.”

This week, Lindsay filmed Leah again. Only this time, she wasn’t singing.

A thread of questions has been going around social media, prompting parents to ask their kids these simple questions, and share the answers they give.

Lindsay went to her youngest for some quizzing.

She starts off by asking Leah how old she is.

Shying away from the question, Leah waits for her mom to help, “One, two, three!”

Lindsay continues, “When is your birthday?” Still warming up to what’s going on, Leah shies away again, but comes back with a more confident answer, “November ninth.”

The two go back and forth as Lindsay asks Leah questions like, “How old am I?” “Who’s your best friend?” “What’s your favorite animal?” and, “What are you scared of?”

Leah giggly replies to some, while others she just simply answers with confident and solid responses. Then Lindsay comes to her final question: “What does love mean?”

Leah Answers Mom’s Questions

Leah, who has been fighting Severe Congenital Neutropenia since 2014, gives an answer so touching that it brings mom to tears…

Without hesitation, or even a second thought, Leah replies boldly and confidently, “God.”

Lindsay was completely taken back by the response her daughter gave. She asked Leah again, “What?”

The little girl looks up at her mom, and with big beautiful eyes, full of innocence and love, Leah says once again, “God.”

With the camera still rolling, Lindsay completely loses it saying, “Honey, that’s beautiful!”

The two sat in silence for a moment longer before Leah started talking about what her favorite chocolate egg is, and telling her mom all about her favorite candy. Lindsay couldn’t help but keep crying.

The response was so much deeper and more powerful than anything she expected her daughter to say, and the result was totally beautiful.

Leah has a 6-year-old sister, Natasha, and an 8-year-old brother, Elijah. The family has endured more than most people could imagine, but their faith in God is clearly nothing short of inspiring. They’ve set up a GoFundMe page for those who feel led to help them financially or prayerfully through this journey.
