This Deaf Mom Couldn’t Hear for 29 Years—But Watch When Ellen Starts Talking

You never notice the little things we take for granted in life, until they become the big things.

For the 29 years she’d been alive, Sarah Churman never had the pleasure of hearing simple things like the birds chirping, keyboards typing or her husband’s snoring. That is—until she received a hearing implant that completely changed her life.

Sarah’s husband, Sloan, posted a video of the moments his wife’s implant was first turned on, and I promise, it will make your heart BURST!

The Internet went crazy watching Sarah experience sounds for the very first time, and the video quickly went viral.

Ellen Degeneres has long hosted people on her show who’ve captured the heart of the Internet.

Sarah was one of those people.

In their interview, Ellen revealed to the audience that Sarah’s procedure cost $30,000 per ear.

With two young daughters, and insurance that wouldn’t cover the cost, there was no way for Sarah and Sloan to be able to afford the surgery.

That’s when Sarah’s mother-in-law, Lari, took matters into her own hands. She cashed in a portion of her retirement savings to pay for one of Sarah’s implants saying, “Sarah is the best daughter-in-law in the world.”

Lari’s selfless gesture inspired Ellen, and in true Ellen fashion, the talk-show host and humanitarian extraordinaire surprised this family with a gift they NEVER saw coming!

With the help of Envoy Medical, Ellen provided Sarah with her second implant, and was able to pay Lari back for the original $30,000 she had spent on her daughter-in-law’s initial implant.
