“My Mom Died in the Shower”: 5-Year-Old Runs to Neighbor’s House After Mom Blacks Out in Bathtub, Ultimately Saves Her Life

It’s not every day that a 5-year-old is credited with saving his mother’s life. But this little boy from Phoenix, Arizona, did just that.

Little Sal found his mom, Kaitlyn, blacked out in the bathtub.

She’d had a seizure and fallen unconscious beneath the running water. That’s when Sal knew he had to think FAST. After getting a barstool to reach the garage door opener, he scooped up his two-month-old baby sister and ran to the neighbor’s house next door. The first words out of his mouth were, “My mom died in the shower. Can you take care of us?”

After explaining the crisis, the alarmed neighbor called 9-1-1 and emergency crews quickly arrived. Had it not been for Sal’s quick-thinking, Kaitlyn says she doesn’t know what would have happened to her.

The firetrucks recently showed up to Sal’s house again—but for a totally different reason. This time, it was to award the 5-year-old for his bravery and name him an “honorary firefighter.”

Check out the rest of this heroic story in the video below:

Cheers to Sal for saving his mama, and looking out for his baby sister!
