WATCH: CEO Surprises Boy Who Walked 20 Miles to First Day of Work With a New Car

Strong work ethic is something that seems to be fading more and more with each coming generation. Unfortunately, many kids today are prone to think they deserve to be handed things on a silver platter rather than working for them — but not Walter Carr.

When the college student from Birmingham, Alabama had his car break down the night before he was to start his new job with Bellhops moving company, he refused to use that as an excuse. The Carver High School graduate walked approximately 20 miles to get from his home in Homewood, Alabama all the way to Pelham, Alabama. Nothing was going to stop him from making it to his first day of work.

But Walter Had NO idea just how far his story would travel.

At around 4:30 a.m. that morning, 4 cops in Pelham spotted the boy walking and asked him why he was on the streets so early. After Walter explained his situation, the police officers bought Walter breakfast and dropped him off at Jennifer Lamey’s house about 30 minutes before his shift was to start.

When Jennifer shared Walter’s story online of how dedicated he was to help her move, it quickly went viral, capturing the attention of the company’s CEO Luke Marklin.

Luke pretended like he was driving to Birmingham to meet the young boy for coffee and give him a personal thank you — but he had SO much more in store.

Instead, the big-hearted CEO gifted Walter with a beautiful 2014 Ford Escape. A Facebook Live video of Walter’s stunned and tearful reaction quickly made its way around the web.

Check it out in the video below, and be sure to SHARE Walter’s story of how perseverance pays off with your friends on Facebook!
