“This Photo May Look Like a Defeated Mother, But to Me It Signifies Strength”: Mom Says Moments Like This Are True ‘Motherhood’

“I love this photo. It was taken of me and my son awhile ago. I was unaware it was being taken by my 5-year-old daughter.

I remember this day vividly, it was one of those dig deep sort of days. I remember I’d been at the doctors with the three kids that day. I’d written a list to make sure I didn’t forget to go through all the ailments, questions and repeats of medications I needed to remember.

This was us at the pharmacy afterwards.

To some, this photo may look like a defeated mother, but to me it signifies strength.

In the moment it’s not always easy, but we always find a way, because we have a place inside us put aside for these days.

This photo is not posed nor glamorous, it’s everyday life.

I give my phone to my kids sometimes to entertain them and to cope. I hug them because I know I often need it just as much as them.

This was a reminder to me that my children are always watching me, even when I don’t realize. I want them to remember my quiet strength and devotion for them that will never waver.

I think all of us have been in a moment like this. It is normal, it is real.

It’s my Motherhood.”
