Mother Perplexed When Adoptive Family Refuses Her Baby Born With Special Needs

What Happened to Baby Abigail?

After Fischer learned, the family wasn’t going to adopt her beautiful baby girl, she believed this to be a sign that she was to be a mother once again and raise her sweet baby born with special needs.

Fischer sought resources and moved forward to raise the child, believing Abigail was “meant to be raised with her real family.”

There was a GoFundMe page, and Okaloosa County Helping Hands, as well as other local nonprofits reached out to the family to help.

“She is my heart,” Fischer said of the child. “Without her I would cease to exist.”

Apparently, when the adoption agency learned of the situation, they flagged the family that had walked away from the adoption.

A local photographer, Oksana Peery, learned of Abigail’s story and offered to photograph the mother and her baby, and the story went viral.

This mother who didn’t care that “the baby wasn’t picture perfect,” now says “I can’t imagine my life without her.”

Speaking of her decision to not abort or give the baby up after what happened, Fischer said, “I’m not a religious person at all, but I know when something is smacking me in the face.”
