“Amazing Grace” is right up there with “Hallelujah” and “I Will Always Love You” when it comes to dangerous song picks for talent competitions.

Regardless of your vocal range, it’s pretty hard to impress judges with a distinguished version of a song that they’ve heard a MILLION times before.

But in her Top 10 performance on The Voice, Brooke Simpson showed America that she had the bold vocal prowess to do just THAT.

Though coach Miley Cyrus advised Brooke to do a modern version of the song with perhaps a “Coldplay twist,” we are all glad she didn’t take that advice.

With parents who are full-time evangelists, Brooke has had the opportunity to sing the popular Christian hymn hundreds of times in various churches across America—so she brought her own powerful version to The Voice stage in this truly unparalleled delivery of “Amazing Grace.”

“Ooh, child. It just shows…your spirit is universal,” remarked Jennifer Hudson. “Your heart…to sing from a place like that…I’m just glad and grateful to be able to sit here and witness it and see a voice like yours get this type of platform.”

“Brooke, I gotta say, as an opposing coach, you just took it to the next level,” added Blake Shelton

But don’t just take their word for it. Watch Brooke’s electrifying rendition of this classic hymn for yourself in the video below:
