Carrie Underwood, CeCe Winans Take the ACM Awards to Church in Captivating Performance

Since releasing her first-ever gospel album, My Savior, on March 26, Carrie Underwood has been taking her praise all over the place. From the Today Show to the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, the 38-year-old songstress is taking listeners back to her roots, and leading a new generation in the classic gospel hymns she grew up singing.

On Sunday, the sixteen-time Academy of Country Music Award-winner teamed up with gospel legend Cece Winans for a powerful medley of iconic gospel hymns at the 56th ACM Awards show.

The performance featured four of the classic hymns from Carrie’s album, My Savior, including “Amazing Grace,” “The Old Rugged Cross,” “Great Is Thy Faithfulness,” and “How Great Thou Art.”

Together, the powerhouse vocalists transformed the ACM Awards stage into a hair-raising worship experience.

Country music icon and fellow believer Dolly Parton introduced the incredible performance in a pre-recorded message.

“I am so pleased and proud to introduce my dear friend, Carrie Underwood,” she said.

Dolly Added, “I have always admired Carrie’s incredible talent, but I am just as impressed with her personal qualities — her compassion, kindness, generosity, and, most of all, the powerful faith that we both share. Now, her performance tonight speaks to that faith in a medley from her new gospel hymns album, My Savior, which I know is a true passion project for her.”

Carrie has previously said that My Savior is “legacy stuff” for her. And with that performance, a legacy she will leave.
