“Our Faith Remains Strong”: Carson Daly Clings to God After Receiving Another Devastating Blow

To say Carson Daly has had a rough month would be an understatement.

The host of NBC’s Today Show and The Voice recently lost his mother, Pattie Daly Caruso, on September 17, 2017. She died suddenly of a heart attack at the age of 73.

Daly shared openly with his Today Show co-hosts that it’s his faith in God and the support of family that has gotten him through the devastating loss of his mother.

“I have great faith, great family, incredible friends,” Daly says, “I really could not have gotten past this without my faith in God, my family and my friends, and that’s you guys,” he said to Matt Lauer, Hoda Kotb and Al Roker on October 9.

Daly took to Instagram on Tuesday to announce the passing of his stepfather, Richard “Dick” Caruso.

Dick raised Daly from a young age when he married Pattie just three years after the death of her first husband, Daly’s biological father. He was just eight years old.

“Pops,” as Daly affectionately refers to his stepfather, died at the age of 73. His health was rapidly declining as a result of an aggressive bone cancer, and Pattie had been his sole caregiver.

“He exemplified great faith, loyalty to family & hard work. He provided us all with so much,” Daly wrote. “We’re grateful. His legacy lives on in all of us & anyone who had the pleasure of meeting him. He’s reunited with mom now. Our faith remains strong. Thanks for your continued thoughts and prayers.”

Daly’s wife, Siri, took to Instagram with a testament to her husband’s faith, and the incredible man who instilled those principles in him.

“As I try to navigate through all of this loss and heartbreak, I am constantly in awe of my husband’s strength,” she wrote. “His faith and his sweet, unconditional love for his family never falter, even amid his overwhelming grief. His dad raised him to be strong like this. His dad taught us all so much.”

As Daly said, his father’s legacy will live on in all of them. Our continued prayers for the family as they face the insurmountable grief that has overcome them this month.
