“Not One Person Said No”: Chick-fil-A Workers Refuse to Go Home After Mass Shooting, Serve 500 Sandwiches to Texas Police

After a mass shooting spree in Odessa, Texas left seven people dead and twenty-two wounded, a local Chick-fil-A once again decided to go above and beyond the call of duty to serve their community.

When management at the University Blvd Chick-fil-A in Odessa caught wind of the news that a gunman was on a rampage in their city, they offered their employees the option to close early and go home.

Instead, the compassionate workers did the oppositive, working way past their shifts to help feed the local law enforcement who’d been caught up in the tragic shooting spree.

The University Blvd location teamed up with a fellow Chick-fil-A branch to cook and prepare 500 sandwiches for the hard-working police officers who courageously put their lives on the line.

What’s even more astounding is that not a SINGLE worker turned down the opportunity to help.

“Absolutely blown away by this amazing team of people,” the Odessa chain doted on Facebook. “After heartbreaking events in our community today, we planned to close early and send our team home to be with their families. As they were walking out of the restaurant an opportunity to feed local law enforcement presented its self and they were given the option to help…not one person said no. Partnering with Chick-fil-A Odessa Town Center they cooked 500 sandwiches and packaged them with the most joyful hearts and a lot of love.”

“Sometimes light in a dark world looks as simple as a hot chicken sandwich,” the restaurant stated, adding that they couldn’t be prouder of their “helpers and their hearts of gold.”

The University Blvd Chick-fil-A also praised the efforts of the first responders and brave men and women in blue:

“Grateful is not an adequate word to express how we feel about all of our brave First Responders, they are true heroes. We are praying for our community in the days ahead and for all of those impacted by this tragedy.”

America’s favorite chicken chain was showered with praise on social media for living out their values on servanthood and instilling priceless lessons in the kids who work for them.

“What a great company!” one person commented. “All those kids won’t work at Chick-Fil-A forever. But the lessons they learn while they are there are invaluable. Thank you for setting the example. Many prayers for those affected and to the first responders.”

“Chick-fil-A is an amazing company and somehow finds the most amazing individuals to work for them,” added another. “We have always had wonderful experiences no matter what state we may be in. Thank you for what y’all did.”
