If Chip Gaines has branded himself on anything other than “demo-day” and never turning down a dare, it has to be his ever-growing strawberry blonde locks.
Over the course of 2017, Chip’s hair has taken on a wild and hipster mind of its own. Now the Fixer Upper star is using his mane to charge fans with a challenge.
Chip took to Twitter on Thursday to announce a true Fixer Upper project he’s decided to call, “Operation Haircut.”
Donate to @StJude & the more money we raise over the next FOUR days, the shorter my hair goes. #OperationHaircut https://t.co/fG0GoNCJLR pic.twitter.com/RGQtcIrRdj

The challenge is simple: The more money fans donate over the next four days to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, the more hair Chip will cut off.
It’s a win-win really. Fans get to be a part of cancer-fighting research and cures for other childhood diseases, while putting an end to that unruly mop Chip has grown on his head over the past eight months.
Let’s be honest, he had me at “haircut.”
The HGTV star took to the Magnolia Foundation website with all of the details.
“So here’s the deal: Jo and I are visiting the sweet kids at Target House with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis next week, and we are truly honored just to have the opportunity to meet them. We’re so honored, in fact, that I want to do something big to bless these kiddos,” he continued. “Basically…we want to bring them a giant check from YOU.”
Fans can donate directly on the Magnolia Foundation website through November 5.
The more money that is raised, the shorter his hair will go. So get your wallets out people!
“And, who knows, maybe if you really exceed my expectations…I’ll buzz it all off.”
