“It’s Raw, Stunning, Messy & Freaking Hilarious”: Dad Snaps Viral Postpartum Photo When Mom Isn’t Looking

Anyone who’s birthed a baby knows that postpartum good times are like NO other. I remember when my mom sat me down shortly before I was due and said, “Has anyone told you about the bleeding yet?” That’s when I learned I’d most likely be heading home in a diaper, just like my baby! Hooray!

One new mom, Amanda Bacon, posted a super-raw (and hilarious) postpartum photo taken by her husband and it has been shared over 85,000 times. Because let’s face it, moms love it when other moms KEEP IT REAL!

Her post was accompanied by this amazing photo and the appropriate headlining caption, “Motherhood Uncensored.”

Amanda Bacon

“Motherhood uncensored.

I’m sharing this picture because it’s real. This is motherhood; it’s raw, stunning, messy, and freaking hilarious all rolled into one. Having a baby is a beautiful experience, and the realities of postpartum life aren’t spoken enough about. And definitely not photographed enough. Some people probably find this uncomfortable, but why? I seriously don’t get it! It’s probably because this part isn’t talked about. We all should try and educate, empower and embrace every aspect of childbirth, including moments like this. And do it while having a sense of humor. Nothing says welcome to motherhood like an adorable squishy baby, and a giant mom diaper. 😜

Got that? Bacon wants to make sure you know that while her husband did take this “freaking hilarious” sneaky shot, she loved it and SHE posted it. Why? Because when we share our RAW moments of motherhood, we help other moms know they’re not alone. Period! And, we might also give them a good laugh, and THAT’S important too!

You can see Bacon’s original post below. On behalf of ALL mamas who’ve been there, THANKS Amanda, for sharing your “motherhood uncensored” moment! And congrats on that sweet baby!
