This 100-Year-Old Lady Is the Only Person Who Can Say This and Get Away with It

Dorothy Custer is the definition of gumption. Listen to her tell the story of how she met her husband, then at 2:10 she reveals the secret to long life (btw, it's the cutest thing ever).

When Larissa met Ian at college in 2005, she never dreamed she'd one day be his wife ... and his caretaker. After a tragic accident left Ian without the ability to speak, walk or care for himself, she did what any woman in love would do: she married him.

Pregnant Doctor Goes Into Labor—Pauses Own Delivery & Races Down the Hall to a Baby in Distress

When it comes to babies, Dr. Amanda Hess knows a thing or two. In addition to being a mom herself, the Frankfurt, Kentucky, obstetrician works with moms and babies on the daily to ensure a safe, healthy pregnancy and delivery.

So it was no surprise when she put a patient’s birth before her own last weekend.

Trading her stethoscope for a hospital gown, Dr. Hess was preparing to be induced when she overheard nurses talking about a woman in active labor down the hall. The patient needed to deliver immediately as the baby was in distress.

Dr. Hess knew there was another OBGYN on her way, but there was no time to waste. That baby was coming, and it was coming now.

With a hospital gown on her front, and an extra one covering her “backside,” Dr. Hess jumped into action.

She covered her flip flops with splash boots and delivered Leah Halliday-Johnson’s baby girl. Then Dr. Hess returned to her own room, and welcomed her own daughter, Ellen Joyce!

Fellow OB Dr. Hala Sabry shared the story on Facebook saying, “Those mamas are bonded for life!”

Both of the moms and their daughters are reportedly doing well.

It just goes to show that some superheroes don’t wear capes—hospital gowns seem to do the trick.

Hats off to this #DrMom and member of Physician Moms Group #PMG, Dr. Amanda Hess! This picture was taken minutes after…
