Gwen Stefani Celebrates Two Years With Blake Shelton, Crediting Faith: “God Just Put Us Together”

Gwen Stefani visited the Drew Barrymore Show recently and talked about how faith and her relationship with God is tied up into her 2-year marriage to Blake Shelton.

Gwen Stefani on the Drew Barrymore Show

On the Drew Barrymore Show this month, Gwen Stefani had a candid discussion with Drew about her life with Blake Shelton, after a devastating divorce.

Pop star and “The Voice” judge, Gwen Stefani had been married to Bush band member, Gavin Rossdale, for 13 years when things came crashing down.

Allegations that Rossdale had cheated crushed Gwen Stefani, as well as the couples’ three children, Apollo Bowie Flynn, Zuma Nesta Rock, and Kingston James McGregor.

The singer spoke with Drew, explaining how hopeless she felt after the divorce, and how she felt her life was completely over.

“I was like, ‘I’m gonna wake up every day. I’m gonna have a coffee. I’m gonna take care of my kids, and then I’m gonna go to bed,'” Gwen Stefani told Drew on the Drew Barrymore Show. Continuing on, she said, “Like I’m never gonna kiss anyone. I thought my life was over.”

But Gwen Stefani’s faith in God, she believes, brought her and Black Shelton together, despite the two stars’ differences in interests.

Laughing and recalling her meeting and getting to know Blake Shelton, the singer said of her now husband on the Drew Barrymore Show, “Then Blake Shelton was like, ‘Hey. I’m Blake Shelton.'”

Blake Shelton had been through a divorce shortly after Stefani’s divorce, as well. He had been married to Miranda Lambert for five years when the couple split, but they’d been a relationship for five additional years previous to their marriage. This couple also had been surrounded with the speculation of infidelity. The two had not had children together.

Meanwhile, Gwen and Blake met on The Voice in 2014. Although they were both going through divorces, the two didn’t initially know about the other’s marital discord.

In an interview with People magazine, Gwen explained the moment she learned Shelton was splitting with Lambert. “I was in shock, because I felt like he was exposing me. I just couldn’t even wrap my head around it,” Stefani said of how she responded to Shelton’s news. “I didn’t want anyone to know what was going on with me…I had this huge weight on me and nobody but my parents and obviously everybody involved knew.”

The two stars’ divorces, however, actually brought them together.

Stefani said Shelton’s candid demeanor about his divorce allowed her to open up to him about her own. She said it was “unbelievable that God would put us in a position to have each other at that moment, in the same exact moment.”

At Gwen Stefani credit’s God and her faith to be what brought them together romantically.

On the Drew Barrymore Show she said, “God put us together. It was one of those situations where I didn’t see it coming.”

As Gwen Stefani explains it, she “wasn’t trying to start a relationship.”

Later in 2015, the two began dating, and in 2021, they decided to tie the knot.

Although Blake Shelton hadn’t been a man of faith, apparently Gwen’s personal faith has led him in developing his own…
