A Stanley Thermos Survived a Car Fire – The Company Responded by Replacing More than Just the Mug

Suffering a car fire is terrifying as well as devastating, but TikTok user Danielle’s car fire also lit up TikTok in a viral way she was not expecting.

Danielle shared a video of the torched interior of her Kia Sorento with her fellow TikTokers, but the real purpose of her video was not to show the severity of the fire: it was to demonstrate what survived the flames.

If you can believe it, it was Danielle’s Stanley thermos.

In the video, Danielle walks up to the torched car, gets her Stanley tumbler out of the cup holder and shakes it to show that not only has it survived, but that it still has ICE in it!
“Everybody’s so concerned about if the Stanley spills, but what about if it melts? Fire yesterday,” she says, “Still has ice in it!”

Her video caption reads: “Thirsty after you catch on fire? @Stanley1913 is like no problem I gotchu”.

As TikTok videos will do, Danielle’s quickly went viral, with over 8 million likes to date! Commenters immediately started calling for Stanley to sponsor Danielle. Others called on Stanley to start making indestructible cars to go with their popular drink tumblers.

The powers that be at Stanley saw Danielle’s video, and since they are apparently no dummies when it comes to marketing, they responded with a video of their own. But what was shocking to Danielle was not just that they responded, but what they actually said in the video. It was beyond her wildest dreams, I’m sure.

Stanley Company President Terence Reilly himself recorded the video response, saying:

“We’ve all seen your video. Wow, what an ordeal and we’re all really glad you’re safe. “I’ve seen a lot of comments that we should send you some Stanleys. Well, we are gonna send you some Stanleys. But there’s one more thing. We’ve never done this before and we’ll probably never do it again, but we’d love to replace your vehicle.”

That’s right: unbelievably, Stanley not only sent Danielle a few more Stanley thermoses, but they are also replacing her torched car!

Follow-up videos from Danielle reveal more details about the fire, show off her new box of Stanleys, and also promise “New car details coming soon.” One can only hope that when her new car arrives, it will be all the rage on TikTok as well.

As for Stanley, I think this pretty much cements their cups’ reputation as indestructible. But in case you are not yet convinced, you can check out a section on their website called “Stories of the Unbreakables” where you’ll read more crazy Stanley survival stories, include another fire survivor (this time it was the only that that survived a hotel room fire!)

Best of luck to Danielle as she enjoys her super cold sips and a brand new car!
