Hero Mom Saves the Day by Rescuing Three Children Drowning in Lake Michigan…And She Was Pregnant at the Time!

Both Alyssa DeWitt and Manistee officials reiterated the importance of water safety in Lake Michigan. She said, “I know those big waves are fun, and you never expect to find yourself in that situation, but it can happen so fast. It’s not worth the risk.”

Glass went on to say, “We all think we’ll do this, but it’s very difficult when you’re faced (with that) situation. By all accounts this person did not hesitate to put her safety aside and we are extremely thankful for that. She’s a hero.”

The Manistee City Police Department and Manistee City Fire Departments commended Alyssa DeWitt. Talk about hero mom saves the day! In their new release, they said, “It’s one of those things where people always want to think that they’ll do brave things in the face of danger. And here we have a young lady who was at the beach with her kids, and in the face of danger pulled these children out of the water. The word that comes to mind was just heroic.”

That said, Alyssa DeWitt pointed to God’s providence that those children are safe today. She posted the story to her Facebook page. She said, “I’m loving my babies a little harder tonight, I’m sure those parents are too. God is good.”
