John Cena Sets New Record With Make-A-Wish Foundation, Grants His 650th Wish

Meeting John Cena

If a child chooses to meet John Cena as their wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation, he or she also gets to choose the activity.

“The reason I love Make-A-Wish so much is because those are those families’ wishes. You can do anything you want, and Make-A-Wish’s list is enormous, they literally will do anything you want,” explained Cena.

Further explaining the children’s wishes, he said, “‘I want to kick it with John Cena and go see him wrestle.’ That is the coolest thing I have ever heard in my life.”

While Cena enjoys the meetings, he admits that there is a “difficult” aspect to his involvement. There have been times when children he’s met have passed and he gets these sad messages from the families.

Speaking about this, Cena said, “Those are always difficult to read. But at the same time, the strength of the parents in sending me a message about how much the time that I spent with their child meant to them, it’s very special.”

And John Cena says that meeting the children is also uplifting for him.

After Cena met a teen with Down Syndrome earlier this year, he said, “This was a wonderful adventure in which I got to meet a wonderful new friend. Thank you for giving me strength.”

John Cena is a solid model for how giving to others can be life-giving to the giver, as well.
