Kristen Bell Reveals the One Thing You Should NEVER Do in Marriage

From the outside, Hollywood couple Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard appear to be the definition of #RelationshipGoals.

Instagram

The goofy duo is known for their hilarious teamwork and foolish fun, and we can’t forget the music video that made us fall in love with them ALL over again:

Still, Kristen is not one to shy away from the reality of marriage: “It takes a lot of work.”

Just when we thought we couldn’t love them any more, they get even more REAL with us.

“Our marriage took a lot of work, takes a lot of work. I don’t think people realize,” Kristen revealed in an interview with Us Weekly.

Instagram

“It is not easy to work around another human being, but if you commit to it, you can pretty much permanently respect that person, but then it doesn’t really matter if you disagree because you still respect that person.”

Though she still stands firm in her declaration that marrying Dax was the best decision she’s ever made, Kristen admits that she disagrees with him on almost everything.

“I do disagree with him on 90 percent of the issues on the planet. But we have really wonderful, intense valued conversations about things, and I always see his point, even if I disagree. It’s hard to do.”

Still, Kristen says respect is huge, regardless of how difficult it can be. She says they work really hard to avoid feelings of “contempt,” because though they disagree on much, neither of their thinking or opinions is superior to the other’s.

“Never roll your eyes at someone,” she says. “You might as well break up right then because it’s contempt. I’m telling you — I disagree with him on almost everything, but I have intense respect for his critical thinking skills and the fact that we were raised differently.”

Of course, it probably doesn’t hurt that the one thing they can agree on is fun — and better yet, having fun together.

“On a daily basis, he just makes me laugh all the time. He’s obsessed with attention, so he’s constantly making jokes to try to get me to give him more attention or to get me to giggle. And you know, he was a stand-up comedian, so I’m living with a comedian.”

I think it’s safe to say, these two know a thing or two about loving each other well — through the good, the bad and the ugly.
