Country star Lauren Alaina recently broke off her engagement to long-time boyfriend, Alex Hopkins. But just four months after her 6-year relationship came to a devastating halt, Alaina has announced that she’s now dating Christian comedian John Crist.
The beaming 24-year-old blushingly revealed her new love interest on “The Bobby Bones Show” this Wednesday. After several months of suffering great loss, including the death of her stepfather as well as a broken engagement, Crist has given the country singer a reason to smile again.
“When people ask us we say we are (together), but we’re not announcing it,” said Alaina prior to revealing the big news.
In prime 2019 fashion, the couple met via Instagram.
It all started when Alaina left a comment on one of Crist’s videos.
Crist jokingly remarked that the reason the two are together is [that] Alaina had a blue checkmark by her name. The comedian admitted he had not heard of the country artist, but thanks to a little Wikipedia creeping, he was able to connect the dots.

He didn’t want to respond by admitting he didn’t know of her or her music — not a great first impression.
However, Crist’s research almost cost him his shot at getting to know the beautiful blonde that “slid into the DM’s,” as he likes to call it.
“He said, ‘I, too, grew up performing in church in Georgia,’” recalled Alaina.
“Why did I say that?” said Crist, instantly regretting his choice of conversation topic.
“I was like, ‘Does this guy know everything about me?’” remarked the singer.
However, she was thankfully able to see past the potentially stalkerish comment by Crist and quickly fell smitten for the popular stand-up comedian.
While the couple has not been dating long, Alaina is apparently the first girl Crist has brought home to see his parents in 10 years… so love must be in the air.
Their shared sense of humor was one of the first things that sparked their magnetic connection.
Alaina’s fans are all too familiar with her love for cracking jokes, making the 24-year-old an ideal match for a man who makes a living doing just that. During her interview with Bobby Bones, she even shared that she has helped her new boyfriend come up with material for his show.
Forever maintaining his funny-boy persona, Crist quipped, “Yes, we are in a relationship, but I’m here for the inspiration.”
