Louisville Boy Prayed With a Police Officer After Flagging Her Down; Witness the Beautiful Moment in this Picture

There’s a photo that’s been circulating on the internet, and it’s going to touch your heart. This photo depicts the moment a Louisville, Kentucky boy prayed with a police officer at his bus stop.

Why the Boy Prayed with a Police Officer

The reason will probably surprise you.

Louisville Metro Police Officer Jan Dykes was on her normal morning patrol when she passed a bus stop. She noticed a young boy was flagging her down—not something she saw every day coming from a child in lower elementary. You might be thinking that the boy needed help. However, it appears that instead, he wanted to give help through some encouragement and prayer. Needless to say, she stopped and got out of her car. According to Officer Jan Dykes, the young boy said to her, “Hey, before you leave, would you mind if I prayed with you for your day and my day going to school?”

The officer was touched, and she happily complied and kneeled to the ground. Only the result was not what she even would have expected from a young child at a bus stop. It wasn’t exactly that the boy prayed with a police officer. Instead, he prayed for her.

“It was great! He said, ‘I want to pray for this officer’s safety,” the officer recalled of the young boy at the bus stop’s prayer.

She shared that in his prayer, he also said, “I made a new friend. I really hope her day goes great, and hopefully, she makes a lot of lives better and going to school and meeting new people.’”

Now, you might be thinking, “They must’ve known one another.”

But they didn’t. The police officer and young boy met that morning, and even though Officer Jan Dykes returned to that same bus stop in the afternoon to tell him that what he did meant a lot to her, she didn’t see him there again. According to KSLA News, the officer had hopes that he’d hear through the grapevine that she appreciated his prayers for her day.

Officer Jan Dykes explained that “It brought a lot of joy to me for him to want to do that for me.”

She also said, “It was really great to think this kid had this much excitement.”

When that little boy prayed with a police officer, it sent a message to a lot of people about the faith of little children, among other messages, including Officer Jan Dykes…
