“I don’t think they’ve ever slept in a bed before,” said Krystal, who was so captivated by this heartwarming moment of her husband snuggling with one of the boys that she had to catch it on camera.

“They were covered in bug bites, head to toe,” said his wife, Krystal. “They were so filthy, that we actually had to bathe, and drain, and bathe again, two different times. The toddler who did have shoes on didn’t have any socks on. When we took his shoes off, the little skin on the top of his feet actually came off.”

They returned the freshly cleaned tots to their parents and told them to please contact them if they ever needed a warm place to stay again.

“We returned them as promised so all we could do was pray for them,” said Krystal.

What the Stewarts didn’t know is that one day was about to turn into a lifetime of care for these young boys.

“We’re walking out of service to our car and the parents approach us with their children and a social worker and ask us, ‘Would you be willing to temporarily take our children while we decide what we’re going to do?’ We just looked at each other and knew, there was no other option. Of course we said yes,” Krystal told Fox 13.
